Maidman, who attended Suffern High School, joined the United States Air Force when he was 18 and remained in the service for eight years, said his father, Mark Maidman.

“He wasn’t overly patriotic,” said Paul Maidman’s step-mother, Rosemarie Savino Maidman. “He just wanted to make this world a better place.”

Paul Maidman will be waked Wednesday at Scarr Funeral Home on Route 202 in Suffern between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m. and 7 and 9 p.m.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and followed by a burial at the F.W. Loescher Veteran’s Cemetery.
